Elevating Voices: Supporting Black Domestic Violence Survivors During National Sexual Assault Awareness Month

April marks National Sexual Assault Awareness Month, a time dedicated to raising awareness about sexual violence and its impact on individuals and communities. Sadly, much of this violence occurs within the context of domestic violence entrapment, where survivors often face layers of trauma and barriers to seeking help.

One of the key aspects of our work in serving Black women domestic violence survivors and their co-surviving children is providing programming that addresses the diverse needs of our clients. We understand the unique challenges these individuals face and strive to provide holistic services to support their healing and empowerment journey post-separation from abusive situations. From counseling and support groups to practical assistance with housing, utilities, transportation, and food, we offer comprehensive support that addresses both immediate and long-term needs.

However, providing these vital services requires resources, and that's where our community comes in. This National Sexual Assault Awareness Month, we invite you to join us in supporting survivors by contributing to our cause. Get your Krispy Kreme Dozens, and the money will go directly towards covering the costs of our programming, ensuring that survivors have access to the support and resources they need to heal and thrive.

Every dollar makes a difference, whether it's helping to cover the cost of counseling sessions, providing emergency financial assistance for rent or utility bills, or offering support for essential needs like food and transportation. By coming together as a community, we can make a meaningful impact in the lives of survivors and their families.

As we advocate for #permission to heal, empower, and elevate, we extend our gratitude to all those who support our mission. Together, we can create a world where survivors are not only believed and supported but also given the resources and opportunities they need to reclaim their power and rebuild their lives.
