Hardships Happen: A Newly Located Resource

Statistics indicate that 98-99% of domestic violence (DV) survivors experience financial abuse. We also know that over 40% of Black women will experience DV during our lifetimes. Since that is true and many of us are also born into poverty, for those of us who are survivors we will need a longer runway to find financial stability.

As a result, our clients are often needing financial resources for all-too-frequent storms post-separation (after they are no longer living with the abuser).

We are so grateful to a community member who shared an incredible resource with us so we can share it with you: Dupaco Community Credit Union's Hardship Grant. If you're 18+, living in an eligible county (all of Iowa's counties are eligible), and for at least the last 6 months you have been dealing with financial hardship due to an unexpected or emergency event, you may qualify for this hardship grant. The amount for this grant is a one-time $5000. Here is the link to the page to review eligibility and sign up: LINK.

You will soon also find a link to this information lodged on our Resources page! It is our honor to continue to bring new information to you, Beautiful. That is what access is all about.
